Dear Paul Massey

Thank you for your advice. I added more information to give more information from you. The smallest unit of our product is one piece (one bottle for sympoo/conditionor, one cake for soap, one pack for sanitary product). But shipping unit and production unit is case. So I want to set BUOM is piece and alternate unit is case (1 case is 24 piece). But I could not find the UOM in SAP standard and I understood EA of SAP standard is meaning the piece. So I will use EA for our product. But I found the message "Never set EA as base unit for something that can be divided and consumed in smaller quantities" in this bulletin board. I wanted to know the reason. What does meaning NEVER SET EA as BUOM?

I am considering the Base Unit Of Measure of Consumer product (ex, Shampoo/Conditioner/etc..). I will set BUOM EA (each). But I found the message from this site. Please refer to the following URL. My question, why we can not set EA as Base Unit Of measure for out product?

1. ALWAYS set the base unit of measure for a material to the smallest unit that can be used. That is, don't set it as FT (foot), but set it as IN (inch). Never set EA as base unit for something that can be divided and consumed in smaller quantities.
