Yes the release is for a change order and the items are all stock items. The issue occurs when a change is made to an item on a BOM for instance a new bottle and cap will be used to replace an existing bottle and cap. The goal is to use up the old materials before using the new. I thought that a release key on the change order would allow planning to wait until the inventory is used or nearly used before the release key is set to released for manufacturing. Prior to that the release key would be set to released for costing and planning to allow ordering of the new items.

Let me know if this makes sense and if there is a better solution.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

When you said "release of specific components", does it mean release of your work order? Are these components maintained in the system as stock item?

Cheers,
HT
