I must strongly agree with Satish, DO NOT DIRECTLY CHANGE TABLE VALUES.
Hari's other suggestion is valid though - deactivate and then reactivate after the change (using sap transactions in an LSMW for instance). I would ask what is the business going to do to stop this happening again in 6 months time? This can only be a temporary fix unless they change the way they close their open POs on an ongoing basis - otherwise you will have to do this at least once a year.

Hi All,
I have to close all old open purchase orders because they are showing up in the MRP run as incoming stock.
I am trying to close all open purchase orders by clicking the delivery completed status in mass update.
But it gives error since It requires to update the version also.
How can I mass update the versions. Is there any other way to close open purchase orders.
Please advise.
