Thank you and I can see SHD0 is the transaction I probably need but have not been able to get it to work for me. When I call transaction MM01 it allows me to define data etc.. but I need only the purchasing view to contain default values for 2 fields. I have yet to figure out how to make this transaction do this. I have entered the program name and screen number still with no luck. Can you offer any additional information on how to define a variant for only the purchasing tab within MM01 and for only 2 fields within that screen?

Try transaction SHD0, you can make variants for standard transaction ..you
can also default values in these variants......
