[sap-log-mm] Deleting Movement Type Reason Codes - OMBS

I have a business request to remove a set of reason codes that were duplicated during a project. I know they have been used but I don't know the implications if we would go through with this request to delete them. I have proposed the following solution of changing the description to "DO NOT USE" but they want further risk assessment of completely removing them. Any ideas or suggestions?
