Letter from the Editor: SAP HANA Transforms Business in 2012 2012 promises to be a year of renewal, writes Vishal Sikka in a recent blog. Vishal describes the big, ongoing renewal of enterprise landscapes. "SAP HANA, together with mobility, cloud computing, and our principle of delivering innovation without disruption, is helping to radically simplify enterprise computing," writes Vishal. Blogger Krishna Tangudu sees the same advantages and concludes that SAP HANA simplifies BW implementations. "HANA is a really cool tool," explains Krishna," it helps you in faster loading and reporting as well and is also helping many projects to perform complex analysis, which earlier took a long time." And SAP HANA is "catching on," reads a recent New York Times blog. The Times blogger gives SAP HANA credit for SAP's outstanding 2012 results, "The big difference [in 2011] seems to be a real success for SAP's in-memory computing system, called HANA." SAP HANA is game-changing for both business and IT and it's a good idea for you to learn more about in-memory computing. To get a better understanding of hardware appliances, be sure to read SAP Mentor Tammy Powlas' account of a recent ASUG session she attended on Virtualization and Appliance Deployments.
