I do apologize for my sloppiness.

Lets narrow it down.

ME2K uses the report RM06EK00 with the logical database EKM. All sweet.

ME80FN uses report RM06EAAW which doesn't use logical database and calls the sap query AQZZ/SAPQUERY/MEME80FN== . This sap query uses the logical database MPOLDB. Before ECC 6.0 transaction ME80FN used to have the dynamic selections for the table EKKN (Account Assignments). It doesn't have it now. I managed to add the required dynamic selections to MPOLDB but the query can't make use of it. I tried to clone the query but it copies only within the same namespace and thus require a repair job. That is not the way we want to go.

In the good old days, pre ECC 6.0, we had access to the dynamic selection of the Accounts Assignments (EKKN) table when using transactions ME80FN, ME2L, ME2M, ME2N etc.
These transactions call reports which in turn call SAP Queries running on a motley collection of logical databases viz.: ENM, EKM, ELM, MEPOLDB.
How to get back the dynamic selections of the EKKN table?
