RE:[sap-log-mm] Block or Restrict an Entire Batch that is in Multiple Locations

'Block' (stock type "S") removes the stock from MRP visibility and does not allow it to be issued to orders. 'Restricted' does not allow the stock to be moved from one location to another (but it's still visible to MRP and it can be issued if not set as "S" stock type).

Authorisation related to movement type (IM) can be made by authoristion BWART in the following object types (we use these - you may need these, or less, or more)

Reservations: Movement Type M_MRES_BWA
Reservations: Plant M_MRES_WWA
Material Documents: Movement Type M_MSEG_BMB
Goods Movements: Movement Type M_MSEG_BWA
Goods Receipt for Purchase Order: Movement Type M_MSEG_BWE
Goods Receipt for Production Order: Movement Type M_MSEG_BWF
Goods Movements: Storage Location M_MSEG_LGO
Material Documents: Plant M_MSEG_WMB
Goods Movements: Plant M_MSEG_WWA
Goods Receipt for Purchase Order: Plant M_MSEG_WWE

You say that you have activated batch status. Is that in config., or in the material master, or both? If it's not working then perhaps one or other 'activation' is missing?

Re "we are on a global SAP system, how will this impact other entities?" You can select batch management (batch numbers applied) to be at plant level, material level or client level.

Subject: Block or Restrict an Entire Batch that is in Multiple Locations

I have been asked to do the following:

Give our quality managers the ability to block or restrict an entire batch regardless of physical location. I have activated batch status but it does not appear in MSC2N or BMBC. How do I get this to appear for selection on the basic data 1. Also, we are on a global SAP system, how will this impact other entities?

I have also been asked to allow warehouse personnel to block/unblock stock in case of damage, etc...This can be done via MB1B m/t 343 and 344. How can I manage this via authorizations.

One last thing, I promise.
I am really trying to understand the difference between blocked and restricted inventory. The only difference I see is that you can restrict an entire batch and block by location/plant/qty/etc....am i missing something here?

Thanks in advance for your support. Any help is greatly appreciated.
