What is the most significant need - triggering an inspection lot on components designated for use in repair, or do you need to have MRP separately plan these components (sounds like the first one is the real need).

Subject: MRP Areas for Repair Station within a Plant

We have a repair station within a discrete manufacturing plant.
The businesses share machine capacity and also component metal inventory, and MRP is executed at the plant level.

There is an additional inspection requirement on all of the components that go to the repair station, that we currently do not have visibility to. We are wondering if configuring MRP area for such a scenario would improve our process and allow us to plan separately our components needed for this repair station, separate from components required for normal manufacturing.

Does anyone use MRP Areas for such a scenario?
