  A Banner Year for SAP TechEd Las Vegas

A Banner Year for SAP TechEd Las Vegas
This year's SAP TechEd was exceptional, with over 6,500 customers, partners, SAP employees, and more than 60 SAP Mentors in attendance. Just a few highlights included:

    Vishal Sikka's opening keynote offered exciting announcements for customers and partners on SAP HANA, Mobility, and SAP NetWeaver technology.
    SAP HANA Buzz sessions were packed, speaker pods were several rows deep, and the SAP HANA area allowed attendees to experience and customize SAP HANA first hand, and in real-time.
    A packed keynote on gamification by New York Times best seller Dr. Jane McGonigal gave attendees a unique perspective on gamification. Also notable were the activities and discussions around InnoJam on Gamification for the Enterprise and the Knowledge Quest challenge.
    DemoJam showcased the innovation of the attendees. Ian Kimbell, along with two DemoJam veterans, Tobias Queck and Sebastian Steinhauer, led the way.

If you missed SAP Tech Las Vegas, you can spend some time watching quality videos, which are full of insight, innovation, humor, and the many people that made this year's event a huge success:

    The interviews of experts on a wide range of technical topics;
    SCN SVP Mark Yolton's one-on-one interview with Vishal Sikka, Member of the SAP Executive Board;
    The "meet the speaker" sessions, including one with gamification expert Dr. Jane McGonigal;
    Additional educational videos of lectures on technology and solution topics.

And don't miss the extraordinary blog from SAP Mentor Matthias Steiner who gives his impressions of SAP TechEd Las Vegas, along with a wealth of links, resources, and feedback. If you missed SAP TechEd Las Vegas and you're not already signed up for SAP TechEd 2011, there's still time to register for SAP TechEd 2011 Bangalore (October 19 – 21), SAP TechEd 2011 Madrid (November 8 – 10), or SAP TechEd 2011 Beijing (November 15 – 17).

Sincerely,

Talila Baron
Managing Editor

  1. Saving ABAP Test Data for SAP CRM

    In this blog, Mark Foley covers some useful features in the "New Debugger," such as the ability to save the test data for a function module to SE37. Then read Tom Matys blog Sustainability Checklist for ABAPrs, which maps out a checklist of five questions for programmers to follow. You'll find other ABAP articles and blogs on SCN.

  2. SAP SLT Replication Made Easy

    In part 1 of this blog series, Tomas Krojzl recounts his experience gained through working with SLT replication. The goal of this blog is to extend SAP documentation and to provide new information about SLT replication. Then read more on In-Memory Business Data Management and be sure to check out the wiki space.

  3. Integrating SAP NetWeaver Portal 7.3 with a Central SLD

    In this blog, Hagay Lipman walks you through the new features in the SAP NetWeaver Portal's system landscape, which aims to reduce the TCO by shortening the setup time of a Portal system. Now it's possible to discover the landscapes and systems maintained in the SLD automatically and to apply the configured properties to the systems in the Portal. For more on the SLD go to System Landscape Directory page on SDN.

  4. How to Consume a Gateway Service from JavaScript

    There's a widely held belief that because the SAP NetWeaver Gateway system does not yet output OData messages in JSON format, that therefore it is not possible to consume Gateway services directly from JavaScript. This how-to guide demonstrates that it is in fact possible to consume a Gateway Service directly from JavaScript — and the browser can do much of the heavy lifting.

  5. What's New in SAP StreamWork

    In this blog, Mika Sissonen covers the latest release of SAP StreamWork, which is now easier and more intuitive to use. In the latest release, you'll see improvements to three areas: the home page, the feed area, and activities.

  6. Get to Know the New, Social SCN!

    The SAP Community Network (SCN) continues its self-improvement campaign. Migration is underway to a new, modern platform – Jive 5.0 – that will support social media tools and simplify the posting process. Read more on The New, Social SCN in SAP.info. Then read related blogs such as Jive 5 and SCN: The Right Content to the Right Person at the Right Time and Better. Faster. Stronger. The SAP Community Network ... Coming Soon on a New, Modern Platform from SCN SVP Mark Yolton.
