In principle you are correct, but this user is for some reason not specified creating warehousing views, which means that the material may be in stock and therefore the changing of the description in the material master is not valid. Also, if the materials pass through stock, the use of MAP valuations will give some strange results.


I agree with your proposal, but this user must first be clear on the business requirements and ensure that a material type that will meet those requirements is used. In the past, I have configured a material type specifically for such requirements.

What we implemented in my previous company is to use the so-called generic material master record where end user will manually change the short text description of the material ID once the purchasing document is raised.
