Pover The simple answer is that you cannot once you have history on that item. You can of course create alternative units of measure and create the conversion factors within MM01 or MM02 depending on where you sit with these materials. The question you have to ask is why do you need to change the base units of measure - is it essential or can you use other alternatives, but without details of the issues I cannot offer further advice. If it is essential that you change the base unit of measure for a substantial number of materials then you will probably require some ABAP support to download the existing data and to create a new set of materials with a new base unit of measure and the corresponding data. Clearly you will have to teat any outstanding transactions, purchase and sales orders. In effect you may be faced with a new data take-on. Therefore it is important that you understand exactly why you need to change the base unit of measure and the implications with all relevant modules. You should also consider from a conceptual viewpoint that the material requiring a new base unit of measure is not the same material. This principle may open up other alternatives.
