Note that you should also modify the mrp parameter 'Delivery schedules' by setting it to 2 or 3.

Not really. Create your schedule agreement(s) using ME31L.
Then create a source list record for the vendor/material Populate the schedule agreement number and line item number in the source list record.
Put a 2 in the MRP column.
This will cause MRP to create schedule releases against your schedule agreement.
