We have a similar scenario for a few products and it is managed by a fairly standard SAP 3rd party sub-contract process**. Your finished material needs to be set up as 'purchased' and needs (i) a BoM that contains the material(s) that you send to be packaged and (ii) a sub-contract PIR that contains the details of the cost of the service of packing provided by the vendor. If set up correctly**, when the packaged goods are received, the packaging materials are automatically backflushed (or can be manually issued, but why bother?) from the BoM into the finished goods and the cost of the service of packing is added automatically - thus your finished material is costed correctly and your materials are accounted for, and traceable, if you use batch management. ** I suggest you search standard SAP info for this - it's too involved to go into in a message thread like this and there is info available.. You may come across complications, as we did, in trying to plan the manufacture of the items that are going to be packaged, and their sub-assemblies, but there are SP solutions for this as well. Hope this helps ChrisO

We have a scenario where our finished product is packaged by a 3rd party. We have different material code (for the same material) but different packaging size. At the end of every month the Packaging Vendor sends a consolidated invoice with breakup of all the different sizes of packaging. Our person checks this invoice and just sends it to finance who just pass an MIRO entry against each Material code. Is there a way by which we need to do GR for Packaging cost for each Material cost and then only the invoice can be posted? This way I believe we will have more transparency in costs. | | __.____._ Copyright © 2011 Toolbox.com and message author. Toolbox.com 4343 N.
