Thank you for your response! We currently do not populate this field i\on the basic data tab 1. Would this be where it should be populated? Also, we sell the components as finished goods as well as in kits. Will this strategy work for both scenarios?

Hi,
You can setup a Sales & distribution BOM in SAP. As long as you set up the material masters correctly - using GenItemCatGroup
0002 for parent and 0004 for components, you can create a sales order type that will generate a delivery transfer order for the components when you create the sales order for the parent. We are using very successfully in my company.
