Hi,
You can setup a Sales & distribution BOM in SAP. As long as you set up the material masters correctly - using GenItemCatGroup
0002 for parent and 0004 for components, you can create a sales order type that will generate a delivery transfer order for the components when you create the sales order for the parent. We are using very successfully in my company.

I am a new user of SAP and am looking to utilize the bills of materials we currently have set up in our system. I have worked with systems that had parent and child relationships we utilized for kitting. Currently, when an order comes in for the parent item, we manually look up the BOM for the parent, add the components to a spreadsheet which we then send to the warehouse for picking. I would like it if when a sales order comes in for the parent, a "kitting ticket" is automatically generated for the warehouse without having the manual processes.

How do others handle this type of situation?

I am not an IT person, so please treat me gently with your response!
