In create/change/view customer master (XD01/2/3) > General data > Marketing tab, in a section called "Key figures", there is a field called "Annual Sales" . This appears as a selection field in the standard report T-codes VC/1 and VC/2 and so it can be used to track sales v. 'budget' or 'target'. VC/1 has been replaced in versions of SAP release after R3 4.7 (which we have)
