[sap-log-mm] Material type UNBW and Warehouse Management

My apology if this is a lame question but need to clarify.
We have an organisation that does not value stock (material type UNBW), so materials are expensed immediately on goods receipt.
This org now wants to create a warehouse and introduce Warehouse Management while still maintaining current environment. Is it still possible to use warehouse management in this scenario? If we create a new SLOC and assign warehouse number will materials flow through to warehouse when using that SLOC.
Or do we need to maintain a separate Material Type for Warehouse managed goods and configure Plant > SLOC > Warehouse number for that warehouse.
If you could supply some clarification and direction it would be appreciated thank you.
